This was our first Norwegian cruise and we are now freestyle dining converts. We enjoyed Cagneys so much on our first night, we went back later in the week. Le Bistro, Moderno and Teppanyaki were all fabulous. We tried Market Place Cafe one night and were seriously underwhelmed. We ate lunch at O'Sheehans two times - it was a good place for a burger.

We really enjoyed the itinerary - all of the ports were "first times" for us so we were just amazed by the beauty. We didn't do any arranged tours, simply hired drivers in ports where that was an option and did self tours. We found the logistics in Santorini to be really challenging, as the number of cruise ships truly overwhelmed the tiny port at the base of the cliff. There were so many people waiting to get up the cliff that there was hardly room to step off the tender onto ground. We ended up jumping on a boat and going over to Oia, and then working our way back to Fira. Every other port visit was easy and fabulous.

Star was very clean and in good shape. The crew was, to a person, genuinely friendly. Our stateroom attendants were fantastic.

Cabin Review

Owner's Suite with Double Balcony

Fabulous cabin! We had seen a video of it before we booked the cruise, but the video did not do the cabin justice. The bed was very comfortable, the linens were soft. The bathroom was huge and fabulous. Amazing shower, 2 sinks, bathtub, separate WC, and a dressing closet.

Having 2 balconies was wonderful. The front balcony is not very private as the privacy wall does not extend at full height all the way to the front of the balcony. Also, folks on the public decks above can see the end of the balcony. However, there is plenty of room in the rear part of the balcony for loungers, and it was quite a pleasant place to sit and watch us pull into port in the mornings. It was very nice to have the large side patio - big enough for one lounger and a table with 4 chairs. Very nice place to have coffee in the morning.
