We chose Norwegian for the cruise itinerary, reasonable cost and their casual dining approach in the main dining rooms. There was no requirement for formal attire with collared shirt, pants and shoes the guideline. Tables were arranged to the size of your party. In our case, four. We never had to dine with strangers. The free at sea options were also good. We chose the Ultimate Beverage Package and the prepaid tips package. The itinerary included port stops at Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikcan and Victoria BC. We took the train excursion to White Pass summit in Skagway and the Mendenhall Glacier bus tour in Juneau. Both included spectacular views and are recommended if that is your interest. There were many other options offered. Victoria had the least options and most of those involved visiting gardens. The only sour point of the trip was the embarkation process in Seattle. Apparently a new computer system was being used and it kept crashing throughout the boarding process. Four different long lines and several hours later we finally boarded the ship. We would have given the cruise itself 5 stars. We were very happy with the food, the beverages and crew service. We found Cagney's seafood and steakhouse to be outstanding with very reasonable up charges for the size and excellent quality of the steaks. We had no seafood.
Very happy with the cabin and cabin service. We normally select a cabin with a balcony for warm weather cruises but decided against it due to the colder climate. We saved nearly $1,500 for two and based on the weather on our trip, we would have spent little or no time outside. Too cold and windy. The picture window was more than adequate for viewing outside. The cabin attendant did a very good job and was very friendly. Room size was good with ample drawer and closet space. Bathroom and shower were clean and fairly roomy as cruise ships go.
