Review of Transatlantic Cruise April 27 - May 6, 2017

Embarkation at FLL was a bit of a mess. We got to the port about 11:30 am. There were long lines but no one seemed to know which line was for priority passengers and which for regular. It would be a huge help if it was clearly marked. There were a large number of elites and platinum on this cruise. One staff member (probably a port employee) was the only one in charge and was extremely confused himself.

Anyway we finally made it on around 12:30 or so. Much more organized once inside the terminal. Cabins were not ready but we were allowed to drop our bags in our cabin. We then headed to the HC for lunch. It was not very crowded at this point. Our muster drill was in the Art Gallery at 3:15. Would not be thrilled about buying a painting after several people leaning against them!

Balcony

Cabin BF

We had a forward mini suite om the Marina deck. Bedding always looked very nice and fresh. A bit of a hoof to the dining room which was a good thing. Great flat screen TV's with an excellent selection of free movies. Balcony very small.

Port Reviews

Madeira (Funchal)

Had a great tour of the island in spite of rainy weather. Highlight was watching people taking a ride in baskets down the hill at Monte.

Cartagena (Spain)

We have been to Cartagena before and done most of the tourist sites. It is a very easy city to do on your own. Tom's port guide is an excellent resource.

Toulon

We took a tour with Prestige Tours. There were just 6 of us from our roll call. We first went to Cassis and took a boat tour of the Calenques -narrow fijords in this area.. It was a really fun excursion. Next we went to the old medieval town of Cassellet (hope I spelled correctly) and took a tour. Did a wine and absinthe tasting. Great fun. Loved the ancient buildings. We ended up in Sanary sur Mer which is a pleasant coastal town. We also took a very pretty winding drive from Cassis to Cassellet. Love small tours,
