We cruised the A-B-C Islands and St. Maarten from San Juan on the Adventure of the Seas. As a Platinum level member (courtesy of reciprocity with Celebrity), we had a dedicated baggage check in at the pier which saved us from waiting in a ridiculous lengthy line. Since we had a suite, we also had a dedicated line with nobody else in it- so embarkation was terrific. We selected the cruise based on the itinerary and it did not disappoint. We especially liked the late (11:00 PM) departure from Aruba. However, the experience onboard was mediocre at best. We had a Junior Suite, which was very spacious and the attendant was great. Food was fair to poor and I believe the issue is the size of the ship- it was proven that you can't serve 3,000 people with innovative, quality meals. Breakfast was always the same and lunch was hot dogs and hamburgers or large pots of stews and other unimaginative choices. Trying to procure a seat was almost impossible. Dinner was disappointing as the quality and creativity we experienced on other ships was sorely lacking. The ship seems to cater to people who are more interested in quantity than quality. Entertainment was only fair and bar service was very poor. Bottom line- if you can find this itinerary on another cruise line, you'll have a much better vacation than we did!

Cabin Review

Cabin 9254
Loads of room and a huge balcony. In addition to the bed, the room had a large 3-person sofa, two upholstered chairs and a small coffee table. It also had a huge walk-in closet, and when combined with the storage space in the suite, it was phenomenal. The bath had a tub rather than a shower, but the walls of the tub were tall and it would be difficult for an elderly person to get in and out without slipping. The tub was the only part of the suite that I didn't like.
