I went with my family, my parents and my brother and i, to enjoy Hawaii. We chose Pride of America because it offered lots of port time in each city, which we enjoyed. We wanted to go to Hawaii to see and do a lot of things, and choosing a cruise was the best way to go from island to island, seeing many things, and having everything included on board. A cruise was a great way to travel because it covers transportation between island to island, a place to stay, and food! The ship was okay, nothing much to do on the ship, but then again you're not going for the ship you're going for the ports, so we did not mind that too much. The ports were wonderful, we rented a car at each stop, and drove around ourselves. We did not sign up for any excursions, we did it all ourselves. If you're a good planner, like my dad and myself are, it's possible to do a lot of the things you want to do. We pretty much got up at 630am every morning, had breakfast, and was off the ship by 8am.
The part that disappointed us the most was the food and service. The food was all right, nothing spectacular. And the service was extremely poor. We had one really good night, which was our first night, and it went down hill from there. The waiters seemed distracted, overwhelmed, thing did not come out in a timely matter, some of the soups and entrees were cold. Took forever to get water refills, always had to ask. One night we ordered coffee with dessert, got our cups, and never had coffee in our cups. Some appetizers were missed. And overall, the service was slow. It would take over 1.5 hours to finish a meal, when usually you're in and out within the hour. I find one of the main reason for slow and inconsistent service, was not all the waiters had an assistant. Therefore the waiter had to do everything. This impeded on the service.
Entertainment was great. The shows were entertaining. Great music and performances.
Clean, lots of compartments and drawers to put things. Lots of outlets.
