  3. Queen Mary 2 (QM2)
Our first visit to OZ. We joined the QM2 Sydney to Hong Kong. It turned out to be the perfect Cruise. The sea was calm and the weather good. There were a fair few sea days but we really enjoyed them, mainly relaxing out in the fresh air and watching the Ocean go bye. Embarkation at Sydney was very quick, we more or less walked straight on,probably helped by the fact we were 'platinum' grade. There was quiet a 'snaking' queue for presumably 'gold' and below status guests. Food wise, the Kings Court is much improved following the refit. We thought the food was good certainly plenty of variety for us. Better if you can avoid the peak dining times though, which we seemed to do without problem. The Corinthia Lounge is also very nice where you can also get food. The Britannia Restaurant was it's usual self. The evening waiters were excellent, jolly but efficient with service. The food was OK but did not quiet have the wow factor. Always nice to have the odd breakfast and lunch 'silver service' both were very good as were the 'Afternoon Teas' !! We found the public rooms to be very clean and all Staff/Crew that we met were very polite and helpful. Entertainment was OK, a couple of performers were really good whilst others were not really to our personal taste. We did several Shore Excursions in Vietnam and Borneo. Preferring to go that way as we had not been to that part of the world before. Whilst not cheap at least they tell you what is what and we found them to be very interesting. Altogether a thoroughly enjoyable Cruise without any problems Enjoyed the QM2 and never felt the ship move. Good value for money on the deal that we got.
