It happened that we were in Texas for a family celebration and we decide to extend the vacation. We are regular cruisers and enjoy the experience. The ship was delayed by weather coming into port. RC credited us money for lunch and other expenses we incurred due to the delay. Royal Caribbean does a good job with the overall experience and we really liked the layout of the Royal Promenade, as well as the setup of the pools, which give adults a quiet space to relax, should they choose. The spa, as usual, offered great treatments.

Two things bothered us about this cruise: there seems to be a movement towards charging for activities. I don't mind paying for things like wine tastings the specialty restaurants and the like, but everything seems like an extra charge. Additionally, it's very obvious that all the the staff is encouraged to be really aggressive about overselling products. After a really enjoyable massage, I really don't want to be held captive while the technician is obliged to sell me the products they used. It would be much better to say "are you interested?" or "Here's a list of the products used if you would like to purchase".Same thing with the beverage packages, about which we were asked EVERY DAY. We also thought that enforcement of the dress code was a little lax. I do agree that we shouldn't have to get dressed to the nines, but it was a little disconcerting to sit down for dinner next to a guy with a bathing suit and flip flops. Although the shore excursions were a tad costly, it's nice to know that all of the arrangements are well handled. Our trip to Chichen Itza was fabulous!

Overall it was a good trip. Oh, and we really liked the Cafe Promenade (24 hours). It was nice having that in a convenient location.

Belize City

A brief tour of Belize City and a tour of the local Travellers Rum facility. It was okay-- not quite an adventure but an experience, the guide was good-- but it was beastly hot that day. Couldn't get into the spirit. And it was a short tour.
