Disney Wonder Cruise Review by MKFlying7
- Sail Date: April 2017
- Destination: Panama Canal & Central America
- Cabin Type: Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
Cabanas (the buffet) is much more functional and much roomier than it used to be, never really had any trouble finding a table inside.
The kids areas - the Oceaneer Lab and Club were both much better than last year. We had difficulty getting our son to go last year, this year he didn't want to leave. The staff in the Nursery and activities for the under 2 year olds there were great, but activities for the young ones outside of the paid nursery service are a bit lacking - there is a toddler area but not much in it when there is not defined toddler time, and the Dory's Reef splashground also could have used a bit more flair.
The redesigned slide, and AquaLab were much nicer, as well as the quick service restaurants. We liked Tiana's, and thought it was a nice step up from Parrot Cay which was our least favorite last time. Food was good, I felt desserts a little lacking inspiration most nights. The upgrades to Animator's Palate were also very nice.
Entertainment was great, and refreshed several times throughout the cruise so there was no duplication of the main shows for the night.
Cartegena was a disappointment - safety was a concern on our beach shore excursion, and it really wasn't worth the money. All other ports were nice.
Loved the Panama Canal, and even with a 4 year old and 2 year old did not feel like we were on the ship for 14 nights. Our only (minor) disappointment on board was that after the canal we had 4 sea days, and entertainment during the day was a little bit lacking. The entertainment cast was finishing their contract on this cruise, with the new cast already on board practicing, so I'm sure that was a part of it too, but they could have used some more activities during the day with 5 straight days on the ship (including canal day.)
Would gladly recommend this ship and this particular cruise if you can fit it into your schedule!
A little bit of noise, not really from the elevator, but more so from cabin attendants who seemed to congregate near our room.

Beach was nice, but rushed in what seemed like an attempt to squeeze 3 groups in over the day. We were at the beach for two hours, but you had to order lunch (included) within the first hour. Assigned seating on the beach to try to squeeze more people in. Worthwhile, but should have been one extra hour.

Cartagena (Colombia)A quick stop at the Fort to take a picture was only an opportunity to be assaulted by aggressive street vendors, including several who attempted to board our bus for people who didn't feel safe getting off. The children's pool was dirty, there were no lifeguards, and the public beach was also inundated with vendors, including one who tried to pull our child away in the water on a boogie board.View All 587 Cartagena (Colombia) Cruise Port Reviews
Overpriced even without the issues, you'd be better staying onboard.

Beach BreakGreat. Beach was good, pool was nice, food was good (all included). Some activities were available as well. Public beach, but is relatively secluded so minimal outsiders.View All 9 Beach Break Reviews
