We chose this cruise because it was convenient, worked out with our schedule, and was comparable in cost. We decided to try NCL because we do not like Carnival and wanted to try something other than Royal Caribbean (our favorite).
We never met our cabin steward until the 2nd day. He never turned down our bed on the first night. Our cabin was not attended until after 10AM and then not until about 9PM. It amazed me that housekeeping carts were not even in the hallways until 10AM. Most other cruises they begin cleaning rooms early. One of the nights our cabin steward turned the sign from "Make up Room" to "Welcome" without even entering the room - We know because we were there. After waiting about 3 hours for him to give us clean towels and turn down the bed, my husband found him down the hall and confronted him about changing the sign. Service throughout the ship was mediocre at best. I kept hoping to find an outstanding crew member, but no one stood out.
The food was okay. We ate at Teppanyaki which was fairly good. The Italian restaurant was on par with Olive Garden. Cagneys Steakhouse was slow. They got our orders wrong, and the steaks were overcooked. The buffet was fair - cold food was not cold and hot food was not hot. Everything was lukewarm. The main dining rooms were a bit better, but still not great.
Room was a fair size. The bed was comfortable. Overall very comfortable. Bathroom was nice size with full sized tub and shower combination.
Sucks! Water smells funny and the entire Caye is fabricated.
