The pier 91 single lane entry is a disaster but check-in went well. This is our second cruise on Princess so we knew what to do head for the Horizon Buffet. Ate aft outside on a spectacular lovely day. This cruise my husband and I were with my sister and her husband, first time cruisers. ROOM: We were thrilled with our rooms, used mainly for sleeping. We'd love a balcony but that's another lifetime. The room steward introduced himself, told us about the room card 'do not disturb' or 'service.' I understand this makes his life easier and that's fine with me these guys work 24 hours a day. FOOD: Fabulous!!! I don't understand the complaining since there is so much of every type, from hot dogs to lobster, from pizzeria to Sabatini's. The service the first night was unbelievable. They poured on the charm. It was never as good, but always terrific (OK, one night we had a lousy waiter). The buffet was perfect for breakfast. The island arrangements made less lines but some complained it was 'disorganized.' I'd get my own coffee, and always be offered all the refills I wanted. We also enjoyed the Pub Lunch, and you must do Afternoon Tea (just in time to get cleaned up for dinner!). LIQUOR: I had planned to imbibe, but the prices put me off. The cocktail of the day would be about $8.95. Our '05 cruise it was $4.95. The martini was $9.95 vs. $4.95. A Coors was $4.75, up from about $3. I stayed sober. ENTERTAINMENT: Ate dinner early enough to get to all the productions. Fast paced, excellent, talented performers with plentiful costume changes. What great legs! But they were ship entertainment, not outside talent. Some shows were a full house and I think Princess should have ushers helping travelers find a seat and keep others from 'saving' seats. The comedians were very funny, not off-color. I like to laugh and they did it. The best show was the "International Crew Talent Show." Kudos to the laundry worker that did the Michael Jackson moves in his safety shoes, and the line dance instructor that did a country western number. The bands were too loud, but I always think that, especially in the lounges. The activities were so numerous and varied we had to choose between several. We were overbooked and sleep-deprived and loved it. However, the TRIVIA contests were absolutely lame and poorly run. They were too difficult, yet there was always a loud obnoxious group that knew all the answers. I suspected that were a plant, but what for? SERVICE: Most the service personnel were foreign, esp Philippines. Americans won't work those crazy hours! One server, Wendy, always smiling, would be waiting tables at 10pm and pouring coffee in the Horizon Court at 6am. they did whatever was needed to please even the rudest passengers. PHOTOGRAPHY: I want to give a special note to the professional photographers. They made me look good! We $pent a bit on formal portraits, and a few informal ones too. There were some shots posted that could have been in magazines... my god, I hope those people buy their pictures!! DISEMBARKATION: There's no good way to get 2600+ passengers off a ship. We were 'walkoffs' in the Vista Lounge, with full luggage. It was crowded and aisles quickly blocked. There was a distracting TNT movie 'Die Hard' on screen. Why not soothe the masses with a pleasant Princess travel video? After we exited to the Pier 91 building, it got worse. There was a line for an elevator, or an escalator. Remember, we walk-offs are all maxed out pulling wheeled luggage, lugging duffels over our shoulder. A man stepped on the escalator in front of me. When he tried to get his luggage to follow, his feet went out under him like someone pulled them by a rope. I know he was hurt. Kids have had their feet carved off when they didn't step off correctly. An aide jumped on the escalator to help him up. I'd be screaming bloody murder (free trip!) but he hobbled away. This is the dumbest, most viscious, dangerous setup imaginable!! See photos at http://community.webshots.com/user/writedesign

Cabin Review

Cabin HH

E209, the Emerald Deck, is the 'cheap seats,' with obscured ocean views. But we're thrilled with the price and value. The view was only partially obscured. The beds were fine. there was ample cupboard and closet room for clothing, all the amenities needed.
