Life is Good on our balcony!

We both wanted a serious break from running our on-line business and this was the ticket. Departed from Miami at 1630 on the 16th of April. Check-in was very smooth, line was long but we buzzed right through....very organized. Initially we were assigned to Deck 6 with a partially obstructed view, however a few days before the trip we were upgraded to a Deck 9 stateroom with a balcony. The room was very quiet and beautifully maintained. We had one day of rough seas and could hear the person next door being violently sick in their bathroom, other than that the room was heaven. Our cabin attendant, Mohamed was responsible to check the room twice a day, however I think he slept under the bed, the room was spotless every time we entered it. You could not find better service anywhere. He was always smiling and pleasant every day of the voyage!

The dining was beyond wonderful. We only got up in time for breakfast the first day, after that it was up by 11:00 or so and a delicious lunch at the OceanView Cafe, endless variety we never tired of and the seating was never a problem for us. Fresh everything and you could not want for more. For the evening meal we were initially scheduled for fixed seating at 8:15 in the Moonlight Sonata Restaurant and we did this the first two nights, but it was really too late for us. We switched to flexible dining with unassigned seating for the rest of the voyage. We would show up between 6:45 and 7:15 and never waited more than five minutes. We would always ask for a table with three or four other couples and met a wide variety of people from all over. Never sat with the same people twice. The food and service was Outstanding at all levels.

We didn't take in any of the shows because we were so content with our balcony, sipping on wine and reading. We made it a point to leave our laptops at home and shut off/locked up our cell phones in the room safe. They did have a complete computer package for purchase and most people were attached to their cell phone/ipads wherever you went.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2B

Cabin 2B

Very well organized. We had plenty of room for all the items we brought. The bed was very comfortable and the sheets were the softest we've ever slept on. We brought an emergency flashlight but really didn't need it. The bathroom had a built in nightlight that was provided all the light you needed in the middle of the night. The balcony chairs were very comfy and the coffee table was just right.

First time here, had a wonderful visit. Had a light snack at a local bistro, excellent Portugese dark beer!
