After reading the reviews provided on this site, my wife and I seriously considered changing our plans. Our trip however, was amazing we were sad when it was over.
That being said, I have been on about 8 other cruises during my life and this one is different than any other one I have taken in the past. We used this cruise as a floating hotel to get from one island to another, and it seemed like there were many others also doing this. The ship is dead during the day, almost everyone goes ashore in every port and there is no true "vibe" of it being a true cruising experience. We never attended any shows or parties in the evening because every day we were spent from being on shore taking in the beauty of Hawaii. From talking to others on the ship, we were not alone in doing this.
We arrived at peak time for embarkation and it still went fairly smooth and about a 30 min. wait to go thru everything before we could board the ship. Disembarkation was a little crazy, not due to NCL, but it seemed that the bus companies were a little short staffed due to another cruise ship arriving in town at the same time.
