It was our first cruise trip. We chose Allure of the Seas because it fitted exactly with our children's spring break schedule. We were so happy that we were not disappointed.
We had an Ocean View room on Deck 3, near the Conference Room, at the front of the ship. It is very quiet, and we didn't feel much motion while staying in the room. The room has a beautiful view without any obstruction. We had a king size bed and a sofa bed, enough for two adults and two children (both under 12). Our room attendant Presley Williams would pull out the sofa bed around 6pm, and then turned it back to a sofa in the morning. Me and my daughter dropped a lot of hair everyday, but the room was always neat and spotless after Presley's visits. Amazingly, Presley was always around our room whenever we needed him.
We had My Time Dining, and the My Time Dining restaurant, American Icon Restaurant, is also on the back of the ship on Deck 3. Eating at the main dining rooms (American Icon, Grande, and Silk) are must haves during the trip. We could order multiple appetizers, main courses, and desserts, and they were all fabulous. We were amazed by the quality and variety of dishes available, especially when the kitchen had to prepare so much food for 6000+ people. Our waiter Alfredo and Assistant waiter Gener were extremely courteous and attentive. We looked forward to sitting at table 383 every evening. American Icon Restaurant also had make-your-own pasta and salad for lunch besides the menu items, but because of activity schedules, we only had lunch there once.
The Junkanoo beach is about 20-minute walk. The beach is free, but rocky. It was too cold for me to get in the water, and my children kept complaining that the rocks hurt their feet. We walked for 30 minutes to Queen's Staircases from Junkanoo. It's not bad, but I wouldn't say it's a must see. Don't pay $1 for any liquor shots because there is a store that has "free rum cake sampling" sign outside gives free liquor tasting as well. If you can avoid buying anything in Nassau, avoid. A $5 magnet in St. Thomas is $8 or $9 in Bahamas.
