We did the Southern Caribbean itinerary out of San Juan - we love that one because you hit so many islands (St Maarten; St Kitts; Antigua; St Lucia & Barbados).
We are gold members (I had cruised with RC once before) & from dropping our luggage off at the curb to boarding the ship, was a total of 5 minutes!!!! SUCH an efficient process! Newbies/friends of ours who hadn't cruised RC before - it took them about 15-20 minutes to board. Still great!!
The ship was spotless; no plumbing issues; delicious food & SO MUCH variety all week in Windjammer & Main Dining Room. Waterslides & Flowrider were FUN!
Getting off the ship each morning was so simple. Never waited more than 30 seconds to get our card scanned & walk off the ship (we would get off within the first 30 minutes of getting into each port).
There were some language barriers with the staff & since it left out of San Juan, everything was in Spanish & English (announcements became a little long) but WHO CARES. You're on vaca; the staff were ALWAYS friendly; & it was a wonderful week!!
We love interior because it's inexpensive & so nice to sleep in the dark! It felt spacious compared to Carnival interior rooms. The shower was a little tight but again, who cares. You're there to enjoy the islands, not take long showers.
Rented a car & drove to the rainforest the day of embarkation. Pretty easy drive, all signs are in Spanish though. Gorgeous rainforest; clear view at the peak of the El Yunque hike.View All 129 Rainforest Reviews

Took a cab to Cockleshell Beach for the day; beautiful & fun! Then stopped at Timothy Hill on the way back to port for gorgeous photos!
Wanted to go to Nelson's Dockyard & Shirley Heights for the day but the taxi drivers were SO aggressive in port. They wouldn't take us where we wanted & fought us to do something else. We were not pleased with the situation so decided to go to Runaway Bay which was a 5 minute drive. Thank goodness because the van we got into was in TERRIBLE shape. We never felt unsafe but didn't like the experience. If you want to go somewhere other than a beach within 10 minutes of port, book an actual tour/driver so you don't have to deal with them!!
Took a sailboat for 6 of us down to Soufrierre; then got off to go to Tet Paul Trail & the volcano. The trail was neat since it is part of a community garden but it was pretty hazy/cloudy so the views were not spectacular. On a clear day they would be tho! The volcano smelled SO STRONGLY of sulphur & it was crazy crowded. We ended up staying in the cab to not deal with crowds. Then got back on the boat to snorkel, eat lunch & sail back to port. We got rained on the majority of the ride back. Not an awesome day but still nice to be in the Caribbean.View All 87 Catamaran Day Sail Reviews
