Freedom of the Seas 2017
Updated on Monday
My wife Cathy and I had never cruised with Royal Caribbean and wondered what a mega-ship would be like. We scheduled an eight day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale, our favorite Florida port, to commence on Tax Day, April 15. We left our Rav4 at the Park 'N Ride (recommended highly), arrived at the ship, and were checked-in in record time. We headed to the lunch buffet on Deck 11 and were introduced to the chaos of this ship's lunch buffet. We were used to orderly, linear buffets on our previous cruises; this one was likely designed by someone on a bad LSD trip. At every moment, a head-on or t-bone collision with another passenger was imminent. The food was arranged in some random sequence, some labeled, but none indicating ingredients. I was trying to eat vegan, so the salad bar was my main option.
Larger than we're used to while cruising. The balcony was larger as well. The bed solved my wife's insomnia while on board.
Airpost Adventure with snorkeling. Fun and exciting with the planes flying overhead.
