Cruise was mediocre. We booked 2 years in advance with 3 other couples. We had a good time with good friends, but there were many issues. The UTV excursion in Aruba with our guide Matthew was the most fun I've ever had getting covered in an inch of dirt. Worth the money to take this excursion if you like to off-road. Be forewarned that the glass bottom kayak excursion in Bonaire is only kayaking along the coast in front of the ship to a barren snorkeling area then you kayak back to the port. The description on the Royal Caribbean planner indicated we'd by kayaking through mangroves in a protected bay and seeing sea life that lives in the mangroves. We weren't any where near mangroves. It was a once in a lifetime snorkel that never happened. The attendant at the shore excursion desk basically called me liar when we tried to tell her their description was inaccurate. I wasn't even asking for a refund, I just wanted them to know the shore excursion was misrepresented. There were several incidents on this cruise that are making me rethink RC for our next cruise which is unfortunate since we've been Diamond level on the last 3 cruises. There were constantly charges on ALL of sea pass card for items we never purchased. Apparently RC changed how they pay their employees right before this cruise and none of the staff were happy AT ALL. Guest services put up a small argument before taking off the charges, but they made it seem as if it was a common occurrence. We had a Grand Suite with decent perks, but the three other couples sailing with us had balcony class rooms. Their stays were filled with issues that went unresolved or were resolved only after receiving a lot of attitude. One of the biggest issues we all dealt with was that our dining reservations with these 3 other couples were linked for more than a year, but one couple was assigned to a table next to ours. When the separated couple asked about this issue they were turned away and told nothing could be done to resolve the issue because the dining room staff member was too busy and couldn’t appease everyone. He never acknowledged it was a RC error. Instead, he tried to make them feel ridiculous for asking that the issue be resolved. My husband and I went back down to the dining room, with little expectations, just to see if something could be done because we didn't want them to feel excluded from the group. We all paid a lot of money for our vacations and wanted to enjoy it together. We had the issue resolved by a different dining room staff member with only minor attitude, but at least he moved us to a table where we could sit together. We've all traveled together on previous RC cruises and have always been seated with the other couples linked to our reservation. The smell of cigarette smoke from the casino was overwhelming on the main attraction decks 4 and 5. The Diamond Lounge and Nightly Event was enjoyable every night. The food in the dining room was good if we ordered what our wait staff recommended. They were never wrong and they were very friendly.

Grand Suite is the way to go

Cabin Review

Grand Suite - 1 Bedroom
Cabin GS 1556
Cabin 1556 exceeded our expectations with the exception of the day we were in Aruba maintenance took over our room for hours (no exaggeration) without any notification. They were working on the balcony using our cabin outlet to plug in their power tools. The room and all of our personal items were saturated from the humidity as the balcony door needed to be left open. The only notice we received was to lock the balcony and close the curtains to ensure privacy due to maintenance work on the balconies, but there was no notification that our room would be used as their base of operation. Coming and going without as much as a knock. I believe this violated our sense of security as we didn’t expect anyone in the room while we were at breakfast and left our personal items and medications out of the safe right next to where the maintenance crew was plugging into our room’s power outlet. Big lesson learned about trusting Royal Caribbean to ensure guests’ privacy and security.
