As a solo traveler, Atlantic crossings with NCL have always been my favourites and this crossing was no exception. NCL make it so easy for solo travelers to make new friends aboard. The Norwegian Epic is not my favourite NCL ship with its quirky design but as a solo traveler its strange cabin layout is no problem for me. On the other hand, as all the public rooms and deck areas are on three decks it is so easy to find your way around.
The ship has been maintained well and I saw no areas of concern with regard to cleanliness or health & safety. Unfortunately, the new NCL CEO has removed the 'Freestyle' or naturist sunbathing areas from all ships which was not only disappointing but a retrospective step in my opinion. I had an inside cabin which although smaller than on most other ships or lines was more than adequate for me with plenty of storage space and was maintained very well by my attendant.
I dined in Le Bistro (x2), La Cuchina, Cagney's, Shanghai, The Manhattan Room, Taste and The Garden Cafe during this crossing. The menus were very good in all, in the main very well presented (except buffet of course) and the food was tasty although I was a little disappointed with Cagney's which was a little bland considering the cost. The service was good in all even if it did come with an attitude at times.
Smaller than on most ships and lines with a quirky layout (The toilet & shower are on opposite sides with glass doors) but there is plenty of storage space and it was very well maintained and cleaned.
