We chose the cruise based on the port of departure and the islands. We hadn't been to most of them so we were excited to see more of the Caribbean. We chose to arrive in San Juan a few days early so we would have the opportunity to explore old San Juan before getting on the ship. We enjoyed touring the forts and city sights. I would recommend doing the same thing for anyone interested in history. We had been on the Navigator approximately a year ago so we knew the Adventure would be an enjoyable ship to be on. The ship is a great size with a lot of activities for all ages. I will say the solarium for the adults is a wonderful treat since it is a quiet place to enjoy the sun and pool. The entertainment, food and service was outstanding as usual. This was the first time we experienced a balcony cabin. As most people say once you have a balcony you never go inside again! We enjoyed coffee and breakfast a couple of days on it. When we didn't want to be around anyone we resigned ourselves to the balcony.
We enjoyed most of the ports we visited. St. Thomas was the one port that wasn't a favorite at least not the excursion we chose. I would not recommend the Black beards castle tour. There is no castle to tour and you are on your own to get back to the ship.
Since we were celebrating our 21st anniversary we enjoyed a couples massage on the day of embarkation. We also enjoyed dining at Giovanni's and Chops.
The cabin was bigger than we have had in the past. The balcony was a great treat.
We chose to simply walk around in town enjoying the culture of the local people.
