Having traveled on several ocean cruises with other lines, we decided this time to take a river cruise — the 12-day Rhineland Discovery cruise — with Viking. Since Viking markets itself so heavily, you might be skeptical that the product can live up to the hype! But we found to our delight that it does — and even exceeds it.

The Viking Longboat Kvasir is a superbly designed craft. The spaces are light and airy: clean, elegant Scandinavian modern that are even more pleasing than the pictures suggest. Everything is thought out for ease of use, comfort, and intimacy. Our Veranda cabin was remarkable in its use of space, so that it seemed to have plenty of room for everything, even at just 205 sq. feet. Super comfortable bed, lovely duvet & pillows. Plenty of storage space. A lovely little veranda, which only the predominantly cool temperatures kept us from using more. But we always had the wonderful views! A terrific little bathroom with storage as well, plus an excellent shower with a fine shower head. Everything designed to work easily!

Even better was the Kvasir's fabulous crew! Wonderfully professional, personal, and caring. Outstanding team spirit and performance. They all succeeded always in making us feel like treasured guests.

Veranda Stateroom

See above in main review. Excellent cabin, couldn't be improved (other than the ice machine!). Great design and use of space.
