Looking to try something new, we chose Royal Caribbean because they had the newest, biggest ship. Many amenities were very nice, however, having only sailed with Disney previously (5 times), the service on Royal Caribbean does not come close to matching that on any of the Disney ships - from the dining experience to stateroom cleanliness and maintenance as well as how interested the entertainment staff is in ensuring a great time for everyone - Royal Caribbean fell way short. The dining took a very long time and there were a lot of items repeated on the menu each and every night. The buffets were crowded, The specialty dining was excellent, but cost additional money, as did many other things such as a convenience wrist band to allow you to not have to carry your room key, and internet, and even fountain drinks cost $70+ extra per person for the week. And their shopping - on the promenade - vendors were constantly bothering your with fliers and raffles.
We had two cabins, one with a boardwalk view and one with an ocean view. Both were nice and well maintained. Nothing extra or special. No chocolates on the pillows as night. Only two towel animals. Nothing extra to make you feel pampered at all.
