My husband and I traveled with our seventeen year old daughter for spring break and very much enjoyed the excellent restaurants and service. Our beautifully appointed and very clean accommodation was in The Haven (AFT) and a wonderful respite from the noise and crowds of the public areas. Our daughter loved the Entourage Teen Club Lounge and we were all amazed by the Broadway quality shows; Burn The Floor and Rock of Ages. Using our Dining Specialty Package, we ate at three of the specialty restaurants; Ocean Blue, La Cucina and Moderno Churrascaria. They were all excellent and the wait staff was extremely attentive to our special dietary needs. All of the wait staff and housekeeping were very professional and personable and their level of service rivaled that of many upscale resorts.

Due to high winds, we were not able to stop at Great Stirrup Cay, but instead enjoyed an extra day in Nassau. As a result, one of our three planned excursions was cancelled, but promptly refunded. Among the only negatives I can report is of the embarkation and disembarkation process at the NYC Terminal and ports of call. We felt they were a bit disorganized and confusing. Given the size of the ship and the number of people, I expected more crowd control and organization similar to that of large amusement parks ie: Universal or Disney. The other negative I encountered was in trying to purchase a couple of small sundry items at one of the shops in The Market Place. The items are relegated to a small shelved corner of the duty free liquor store. The store was always crowded with a long line of customers sampling and/or purchasing liquor and only one or two cashiers. Luckily, one of the cashiers saw that I was only buying two small (non-alcohol items) and took care of my purchase right away. Perhaps the sundry items should be sold in the gift shop?

We will consider the NCL Breakaway for future cruise vacations and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys cruises and wants the convenience of leaving from NYC. I also highly recommend The Haven and the specialty restaurants.
