Chose this cruise for the 5 island itinerary. 2 girlfriends both celebrating birthdays. Have cruised 10+ times, including several other Royal ships previously. Prepurchased every upgraded dining experience and was disappointed with "specialty" food on this ship, don't spend the money, stick to the buffet instead. This is not the ship to pay for upgraded dining.Experienced specialty dining on other ships including Royal so have something to compare it to. Don't pay for the Galley Brunch waste of time and money, I asked for a refund after being disappointed by the other 4 upgraded options, this was the last straw.

The service is good. The crew really go out of their way to provide a great experience. Arrived in San Juan afternoon of departure so no time to explore. Took a taxi to pier and embarkation went smoothly, did not use the ship transfer. Overall the appearance of the public spaces is good and the ship was very clean. Cabin had plenty of storage and room steward took great care of us; room was always refreshed and robes were provided when requested. More re the cabin later. Noticed sewage smell on a few floors on 2 days. Preferred the buffet in comparison to the other dining venues, even The Chef's Table. That was surprising. Enjoyed the salt water pool in the adults only area. Staff actively addressed issue of guests saving loungers when chairs left unattended for long periods.Happy with the gym facilities, spa services are average and overpriced.Looking for a massage, try Pam's Wellness Center in Antigua on Valley Church Beach! Unique experience in St Maarten, Tijon Perfumery, make your own perfume, check it out on Trip Advisor.

New waterslides and Flowrider were a great addition but had limited times with very long lines. Lots of themed fun and activities available. Could always find a quiet spot somewhere ( other than the balcony ) even though the ship was full. The crew work very hard to provide a great experience. Loved the ports and going ashore every day.I would cruise this itinerary again and Royal again , but not on this ship.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E3

First time I have ever had any concerns with a cabin. The room had plenty of storage and was spacious enough for 2 people with a good layout. The balcony is more enclosed that other ships and used it alot. Room attendant was wonderful, Clinton kept the cabin refreshed, clean and was very helpful and friendly; even provided extra padding for the hard metal framed beds. The room could use an upgrade, very worn carpet, with possible water damage signs? As soon as the cabin door was opened the smell of mold/mildew hit me while standing in the hall and I started coughing. Guest services were unable to change the cabin, ship was full. Daily attempts were made to resolve the issue including changing the a/c filter and housing, providing a fan and maintenance checking humidity etc levels, Problem was never completely resolved and I slept with the a/c off and balcony door ajar to diffuse the smell.

Port Reviews

St. John (U.S.V.I.)

Massages and facials at Pam's Wellness Center on Valley Church Beach.Trip Advisor referral.Check her out on Facebook also. Took the local bus #22, $1.50 each, easy walking distance to bus terminal from pier, bus leaves once it is full.Cottage is located right on the beach, Pam is wonderful, professional and very friendly.Highly recommend Pam and this gorgeous beach.Plenty of options, crowded near beach bar, deserted further away. Fresh coconut water $5.Umbrella $10. Brought our own blow up floaties-perfect day floating and swimming.. Lots of options at this beach, paddle boarding, jet skies. not bothered by vendors, say no thank you once, not asked again

The service at the local beach bar is SLOW with attitude.Relax and enjoy, you are on vacation.

St. Lucia

Walked into town, shopping and pedicure in local dept store and market.Very helpful locals, let us use their own phone to make oversea calls. Like anywhere, be mindful where you go if not on an excursion.

Barbados

Took shuttle $2 from pier ( it was a hot day ) to downtown Bridgetown and walked to Browne's Beach from town. Brought own snorkel gear and blow up floatie. Beautiful water and sandy white beach. Swam out to sea turtles on own, no crowds or tour line ups! Shopping/lunch in town at duty free a/c mall ( Good Sheppard- need passport ) on way back to ship.
