We have cruised RCL,CARNIVAL and DISNEY. We cruised NORWEGION 10 years ago and swore we would not cruise with them again, but it was a large group so we caved and gave them one more shot, well never again. embarkation: This was fine we had no problems and were on the ship in no time.

The ships lobby was nothing special and every night had to fight through photographers set up in main walk ways. Booked a balcony room and one inside cabin. When we arrived in our room the safe did not work, the phone did not work , the door to balcony gave us awork out to open and the bathroom smelled of sewer which was a running joke with 5 of the balcony rooms in a row that all smelled. They fixed the safe , the door, my husband fixed the phone and they fixed the bathroom for about 12hours on Friday and it was starting to smell again by Saturday. The bed was as hard as a rock, come to find out it was missing the soft padding on top of the mattress, everyone had this in their rooms but us, they gave us an eggcrate, not quite the same, sleeping was miserable. Thank goodness for the balcony or I would have gone crazy. Chairs on deck came at a premium , staking them out early was a necessity if you wanted a place to sit on any outdoor deck. The only draw back with a balcony room was smoking was allowed on balconys , and was quite annoying to be smelling cigar and ciggarette smoke while out there. The pool was a joke for the amount of people on the ship, always overcrowded, my daughter never went in. You coud pay for the spa and lap pool for adults only 20.00 a day. Disney has an adults only pool and hot tub thats free, it seemed as though everything was extra. Adults only hot tub on deck always had kids and rules were not enforced. We never experienced that on Disney ,adults only meant adults only and it was free.

The food was mediocre at best, same menue every night in main dining resturaunts and that food was nothing special. Buffet was o.k nothing special. Specialty resturaunts we ate at were Impressions , not worth the money, and salsas which was better but not great. Friends ate at Bamboo and said that was excellent. If you want variety you had to pay for it. Freestyle just means you better make a reservation or expect to wait. Traditional cruising may have you eating at a set time , but whats the difference if you need to make reservation anyway. Personal service was lost in the dining rooms, it was not bad just hurried. Staff was friendly but ships facilties and food left little to be desired. The teen club was a joke, a tv and a wii, very poor facilties , the kids were bored , not alot going on. There were kids at the adult shows , it seemed that security was really lacking. If you have cruised other lines and have something to compare to , this is a bottom of the barrel cruise for premium dollars. We paid 4,400.00 for mediocre food and facilities, I've spent less for much better. Look into other lines, we gave Norwegion another try and were extremely dissappointed. Others that cruised with us said they would never cruise with Norwegion again. We had a good time with the people we cruised with, but the food and facilties on the Dawn were not worth the price paid for this cruise.
