The price was really good for a family with young kids to travel with great stops - Singapore - Vietnam - Hong kong, Okinawa and Shanghai. The ports were good however pretty fair out for the average traveller (one port being 2 hours one way to the city- Vietnam *not for little ones 2hours + no toilet stops!!) No tours offered for young children, no prior information give that kid club is open on port days was disappointing in the planning process. To be told the night before is a little late! The next port in Vietnam was also disappointing. A shuttle bus was provided for free - it took you about 20 mins out where your asked to hop off and hop in to a taxi youll need to pay for. Price varied. What was at the stop of the free shuttle bus? NOTHING. Just a 2 way road and some pebble rocks. No shop, toilet, sight seeing. Nothing. So back on to the free shuttle bus to return to port - which i reckon 95% of people did when they go to the 'stop'. (why didnt we organise a tour? again none for young children and no prior info given that child can attend kid club all day on port days) The other stops were fine. Embarkation was quick. Disembarkation not so much (Shanghai) . We lined up for roughly 40 minutes to finally get to the check point to be then told to go back to guest services. Surely the better system would be to have a note left at your door with the final bill they give you! Wasnt just us - seemed to happen to a few. Pay no mind to the reviews stating the ship is outdated- not im my opinion. Ditto to it being 'asian themed' - not in my opinion. Activities and entertainment - were great- for the first 6 days then it basically gets moved to a different time slot on the cruise compass (day planner). so trivia will be 3pm on monday and 2pm on tuesday. Same stuff different time. I seriously wonder what families with children under 3 do all day. No pool for kids in swim nappies, no kids club. The activities although great are really not suitable for young children. Every parent knows they cant take a 2year old to a bar and play trivia! or bingo, or an art auction.. so what do they do all day?? Even the 'family activities' like scavenger hunts are not suitable (as a parent could imagine running against the clock all over the ship with a 2yr old!!) - i feel the family activities are more suited to 4yr plus. The sales - proceed with caution! the 'final big mark down' for example - Michael Kors bag RRP $570 on the price tag marked down to $255. WHAT A BARGAIN! Yes? wrong - quick check online at the Michael Kors website - its $255 RRP. Its easier to talk about the bad - its human nature. Sorry! Would we do it again?! Yes - if the price was right. It was a great experience. I meet a lot of people, the kids LOVED it, the staff are friendly and its so relaxing! Kids club - we used the 3-5 year olds room are SOOO GREAT! the programs are really good. The kids always asked to go. The staff always gave feedback. I think the hours need some tweaking - they dont always run with the compass so you miss some things or have to leave early - BUT ill take what i can get and its a REALLY great service they provide for families! I think RC would benefit greatly from a 2 hour under 3s kids club. Just 2 hours a day, they provide a pager for the older kids so they could give a pager to the parents and should a nappy need to be changed or anything just page the parents to return. Although it didnt affect us - theres a big gap for the families this would affect. I just cant see what there is to do? Alot of kids under 3 are not toilet trained for pools and thats a big part unavailable. I would not recommend cruises to families with kids under 3. (just my opinion) The ice show was enjoyed by us all. Lastly - Singapore is THE BEST! LOVED IT! Going to Shanghai? TAKE TOILET PAPER EVERYWHERE - DO NOT MISS THIS ADVICE ITS IMPORTANT!!! If you prefer western toilets - look for disabled toilets they will be western (youll still need your toilet paper that you packed) and lastly - that bucket next to the toilet is for your USED toilet paper - put it in there - most places you CANNOT FLUSH TOILET PAPER. If there is a bucket thats where you put it - if not flush it and hope for the best! Happy travels :)
