The Sea Princess is still a beauty and a fine ship. First embarkation was the best ever for us. We arrived at the port at 11:35 and were in our cabin by 11:45. What a breeze. There is something to say about arriving early that's for sure. We had taken the Vallejo ferry over to the city and that was also great, but it is the 10:am ferry that takes you to pier 41 after it takes others to the ferry building. The cabin was small, but what I expected. We had a ocean view on the port side. Our daughter,son-in-law, and 2 grand-kids were just down the hall with a 4 person room. The beds drop down from the ceiling which makes it a rather cozy room, but just fine for families. Most of our meals we had in the dinning room because we like to be waited on. We had anytime dining and usually ate dinner at around 6pm. We never had to wait for a table. but sometimes the service for dinner was slow. Something new is they do do the baked Alaska parade in the anytime dining room which was a nice surprise. The only food item I did not like was the Tilapia fish taco for one of our lunches. It is nothing like what a fish taco should be like. But, all in all the food was great. We did the chefs table which was the best ever. Chef Joseff was very friendly, funny and gracious. This dinner is worth every extra dollar you spend to do this special dinner. As far as I'm concerned, this is a must do. One night was suppose to be our granddaughter's birthday celebration and the staff did not get the message. So our son-in-law politely let the staff know how disappointed we all were. Well, in about a day, they got a special invitation on formal night to do the birthday celebration. They went all out with a very large cake with a candle, six waiters singing to her, free champagne for the adults and much attention to our granddaughter. So, letting them know you are disappointed in something in a polite manor goes a long way. Even though we had rain in both Juneau and Skagway, we still had fun. My husband and I did the bike and brew which was a 9 mile bike ride, then off to the Alaskan beer brewery for all you can drink. Be sure to try their white beer as it is very popular now. In ketchikan while we babysat on the jet boat ride, my daughter and son-in-law went scuba diving. Yes that is correct! They encountered a huge octopus who did not like her picture taken. Never the less, they got a wonderful picture of this octopus. Tracy Arms is worth getting up very early as the scenery was spectacular. Lots of people were on the top decks, but we were more protected on deck 7 where we could go on either side to see the views. Debarking was a breeze as we choose to leave the ship around 10:15. Because we were some of the last to leave, our luggage was very easy to find. We were parked across the street in the parking garage, so we just walked there hauling our own luggage. This was a lot easier then waiting at the curb for loading as it is very crowded there. Finally, the Sea Princess although does need some fresh carpeting and upholstery, then ship was not worn out as some have said. It fact, as far as I'm concerned, it sparkled. After it is in dry dock this fall, it will be even a more beautiful ship.

Cabin Review

Cabin d

Small cabins, but have lots of storage. Our cabin was foward on Dolphin deck/port side. It was quiet, close to casino and the pizza place. Not bad at all. We had a ocean view with a huge window. We did not miss having a balcony at all on this trip.
