We were on the Norwegian Getaway sailing on 4/9/17 to the western Caribbean. This is the first time we were on Norwegian but we are experience cruisers. We have been on multiple cruises on Carnival, Princess, Celebrity, Holland America and over 30 cruises on Royal Caribbean so we have a good understanding of what is good and what is not. We arrived in Miami on a 9 AM flight and we were at the terminal at 10:20 AM. Check-in was easy and we went to the waiting lounge and boarded at 11:50 AM, around the same time as most ships start boarding. Our balcony room was available at 1:30 PM. The room was slightly smaller that most ships and the balcony was quite a bit smaller than most ships but really not a problem. The shower was a decent size but low water pressure but not really a problem. Plenty of hot water. We went to supper at 5:30 PM and our luggage still had not arrived. After supper I checked and our luggage had arrived. During the week we ate at the Tropicana restaurant, Savor, Taste and 2 specialty restaurants, La Cucina and Teppanyaki. The food was good in all the restaurant but by far the best was Teppanyaki. This is where they cook the food on the grill in front of your table. This is a small restaurant with limited capacity so I would advise you to make your reservation in advance of boarding or you might not get in. In all the restaurant the portions were a good size and bigger than on most ships. The main problem we had was my granddaughter has an allergy to dairy products and we spoke to the chef to get food for her but ever night it was a problem. They didn't seem like they were trying to be very helpful.

We had unlimited internet for the week but the internet was not very good. There were times where you could not log in or if you were able to get on the response time was very slow.

They have 2 good production shows on the ship, Burn the Floor and Million Dollar Quartet. The Million Dollar Quartet was probably one of the best shows I have seen on any ship. It showcases four singers, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins in the early days of Sun Records so if you grew up in the 50's you will probably like this show. The problem is that they have a relatively small theater for the size ship so they ran each show 2 times a night for 2 nights. Other than those 2 shows there was not much in the way of entertainment in the theater. On many other cruises the cruise lines have shows every night in the theater. We went to see most of the comedians at the Headliner club but they were not very good and couldn't hold a candle to the comedians on Carnival.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BB

Room was slightly smaller than most balcony rooms we have stayed in and the balcony was considerable smaller but it was not a problem.

Port Reviews

Harvest Caye

Probably the best port e went to. Their private island was very nice and had a great pool area.
