Chose this cruise for the dates, and I'll be more intentional to avoid spring break weeks in the future.

Frequent Carnival customers and it is increasingly difficult to move down to the older boats after being on newer ones. Primarily that'll show up in my comments on the cabin. Liked the overall décor.

Our first California departure as well. Won't become our favorite, but I understand why it is among southern California's. Our flight was late and there was minimal assistance or 'experience' with our onboarding. Not directly the fault of carnival, but seemed they packed it in a little early. Similar with debarkation, I could have been on a number of earlier flights, even with a very slow to release docking/customs situation we had plenty of transportation options and time.

Location was fantastic, off the stairs and two easy flights below lido and serenity. Best air conditioner we've had in a dozen cruises too, which was great at the southern tips of the voyage.

Unfortunately, it just needs a face lift. the bathroom door, room counter top both showed significant wear and tear; two of the drawers always opened and closed together; and the fridge had only three legs and wobbled each time it opened and closed.

Port Reviews

Los Angeles

Didn't really spend any time here. Know that if you're platinum or carry off you can get to a noon flight if all goes well, but there is risk involved. One of the slower debarkation ports I've experienced.

Mazatlan

Very impressed by the "blue shirt" ambassadors. May have a new retirement goal. Also like that you can walk downtown by following the blue line. The market was a bit of a mess though, we landed on a holiday and once we saw the crowding we gave up rather easily.

Took a golf cart taxi to the water taxi over to Stone Island. Very much a locals beach, but we all loved it. Very little of the cruise crowd there. Really enjoyed El Velero - also free chairs with food/drink. BUT - word of caution - do not get the margaritas. While fine, they were way over priced, that our we got taken. Another group near by us had only beer and food and their bill was a third of ours. When we inquired we were told that our four margaritas were $20 US each. Should have asked first.

Cabo San Lucas

Wish I had written down the name of where we landed! Took a "water taxi tour" that was purchased on shore. Negotiate, we spent $80 for four, but I've read where others did better than that. Didn't feel like a lot of back and forth at that point. Provided a very quick tour of the sites via small (sometimes scary) boat before dropping us off at Medano Beach. We moved just past the swimming area and found location not charging for chairs if you were drinking... duh! Some of the best steak tacos I've had, and very well priced.

We chose to walk back, though a water taxi was included in our 'tour.' Did some shopping and the girls even did the 'fish pedicure.' Both wives loved it. Tequila tasting, shopping a plenty all leading to getting back on board. We were easily able to do a lot in a small amount of time.
