After reading all of the negative reviews on Cruise Critic we were a little concerned about this ship. However, the date for the Panama Canal Cruis worked perfectly for us so we booked it. The ship is 21 years old and in reasonably good shape for her age. We were in cabin 344 and had a lanai room which we really enjoyed. It was a lot of fun sitting out on our lounge chairs and watching the people walk by. We enjoy people so this was a great way to visit with various people on the ship. Our room was in good condition and the only complaint would be that the door leading out to the lanai was difficult to open. The chairs were comfortable for us, but the chairs did show signs of wear and tear. After all they do get a lot of salt water and intense sun, but we really didn't care what they looked like. We had open dining and that worked great for us. We generally went to dinner around 7 and were seated within ten to fifteen minuets. We enjoyed sitting with a variety of people. It seems 15 evenings with the same peopl might be a bit much. Service was great and the food was excellent. We did go to several of the shows and especially enjoined the Beatles review and the comedian. I do feel like the ship was lacking in activities on sea days. With 1450 passengers I would have thought that there would be two actives at a time to choose from. Oh, I forgot to mention that our cabin stewards were fantastic. We enjoyed their fun, friendly personalities and they made our voyage very pleasant. We enjoyed all of the ports, but I have to say that Puerto Chiapas is a pretty poor excuse for a port. The staff was very helpful and I have to say this overall we had a great experience. There were things that we could have complained about, but they were minor in the big scheme of things. If you want to go and complain and make your trip miserable, I guess you could find things to moan and groan about. But we concentrated on the positive things and had a wonderful experience. We may end up on this ship again because we are interested in going to the Amazon.
