Traveled with children

My wife and I just returned from our 14th cruise and 7th NCL. We traveled with our children, ages 14 and 11. This was their 6th cruise. My parents, brother, sister-in-law,their three kids, sister and brother-in-law also were on-board. We all have cruised between 3-30 times on NCL and other lines. This was an opportunity to cruise from our home port on the NCL Spirit which is in its first season on the Boston to Bermuda runs. We were looking forward to having all three generations sail together for the first time. This cruise exceeded our expectations.

The Ship: My wife and I have been on the Spirit before. We enjoyed our 8 day cruise from NYC in the summer of 2006. We were impressed by how beautiful the ship still is. The public areas are well decorated and there is evidence of improvements in all of the public lounges and theaters after the drydock last fall. We find the ship easy to navigate and did not feel crowded at any time on-board. The ship still sparkes and we thought it was very clean. The Centrum is beautiful and we love the natural light, staircases, and glass elevators. The cafe serves excellent coffee too. The promenade is also a favorite place for me to walk or sit and enjoy the ocean.

The cabins: The Spirit has limited cabin options for families of 4. We had side by side ocean view cabins on deck 5, midship. The cabins were clean and well appointed. The new beds are higher and the mattress are new and firm. The bathroom has a great shower with a sliding door, not a curtain. There was plenty of storage space. We never met our cabin stewards for one of our rooms. However, they did an excellent job keeping things clean. We found deck 5 to be quiet for the most part. We had been on this deck before but in an inside cabin. We liked the picture window.
