We are a retired couple from Texas. We arranged two cruises in Florida before we stayed with family on spring break there when we returned. Seemed to make the long drive more worthwhile! We left the Conquest in Ft. Lauderdale and boarded the Splendor in Miami the same day. Weather was good except for a quick shower in the Bahamas. It was my birthday so all good anyway! We loved all the ports, and even Amber Cove was a new port for us. We've been to all of the other ports many times, so we did not book any excursions. Amber Cove sounded great just for the pool near the dock, and it was really nice! The dining room serves a really cute birthday cake for you! Orders in the dining room had some issues but were all corrected promptly. All of the comedians were great except one was not quite as good. I love seaday brunch, especially the steak and eggs, and don't forget the desert! It's always a toss up between the cheesecake and banana cream pie. It was hard not to compare the ship to the Conquest since it was so recent. Our inside cabin room was a little bigger on the Splendor. The cruise director Chloe, really stood out on the Conquest, but MarkQ, not so much on the Splendor. We had an extra day on the Conquest, so perhaps that helped us get more familiar with the staff. We usually love the shows in the theater, so it was disappointing that two of the main shows were presented again on the Splendor. It seems that the shows are getting to be more about visual affects rather than talent in singers and dancers. I do believe the performers were vocally better on the Splendor, but the visual affects didn't pull off as well as on the Conquest. Our cabin steward kept our room clean, but was a nuisance sometimes. He opened the door a few times at the same time as he hollered "housekeeping". This was a spring break cruise with too many teenie boppers. On the 3rd day someone stole my flower leis from my mailbox. On the 6th day, two of my decorative cardboard tropical birds were stolen from my door.
We did a little shopping around the port area and picked up a nice piece of amber. We hung out at the pool there the rest of the day. Decently priced local beer (considering prices on the ship).
