We had cruised twice before on the Star Princess and liked the ship so chose her for our first cruise in fifteen years. We flew from Sacramento to Los Angeles the day of the cruise.

We had a bit of an adventure on the shuttle (not Princess) when the driver misunderstood another passenger's destination. However, it ended up to our advantage because he took the scenic coast route to get the port. Embarkation was very well organized--it only took about 1/2 hour too get to our cabin

The biggest disappointment on this cruise was that there was little Mexican (mariachi or other) entertainment on board. The only Mexican entertainment occurred during one of the port days (a local folklorico group) when most passengers were off ship. Also only one lecture AFTER we were finished with the Mexican ports. The entertainment on sea days seemed more to sell product than to entertain. Most of the evening entertainment, especially the Princess dancers, was very good, but not Mexican themed. The weakest evening entertainment were the comedians.

Cabin IF

Almost as far front as could be on Emerald deck. Involved a lot of walking, which was ok because we needed the exercise after all the good food. Cabin was noisy when we arrived in every port because of anchor & thruster noise. This definitely didn't allow "sleeping in" on port days. One day the noise started at 5 AM!
