Queen Mary 2 (QM2) Cruise Review by NSWP
- Sail Date: March 2017
- Destination: Asia
- Cabin Type: Balcony, sheltered
Always been on my bucket list to try QM2.
Embarkation in Sydney was very good, efficient, only had to wait half an hour to embark.
The ship was magnificent, like new after refurbish, nicely furnished and plenty of deck space. Cabin was fine, had sheltered balcony cabin on deck 5, well furnished, comfortable bed. Shower pressure not great, just adequate.
Dining, my biggest disappointment. We did 1st sitting @ 6pm in Britannia. Table of eleven. Service good from waiters, but wine waiter not attentive and forgetful at times. Food choice poor, about 5 mains to choose from, portions very small and of mediocre quality. Drink prices way over priced.
Entertainment was ok, mix of singers, dancers etc.
Ports and excursions ok, but Vietnam not nice.
Overall an average cruise, would not travel Cunard again, Grills pax had too much of the ship to themselves, couple of lounges/bars, two restaurants, own sun deck etc. Much prefer Princess/P&O UK. QM2 after all the hype in Australia is over rated in my opinion. Enforcement of dress codes was poor, they gave up.
