We wanted a trip of less than a week for our intro to cruising and the Liberty's itinerary was just about perfect. The first 2 days were at sea and there were loads to do. We expected the common areas to feel cramped. However, apart from the main pool deck, there was plenty of room.

On the second evening, we had the formal dinner where the guidance was 'elegant' dress - with no jeans, flip-flops or tees. We were prepared for this and I had seen from other reviews that a nice formal shirt and trousers/pants for men would suffice. There was a bit of a wait to get seated (about 30 minutes). We were all dressed smartly - apart from my 18-year old son who thought black jeans pants would do (although with a smart shirt). The majority of the diners were really smartly dressed (quite a few in tuxes). Once seated, I had a go at my son for wearing jeans until I saw some guy waddle into the room in a basketball top, shorts and flip-flops. At that point my son took a look at me as if to say..."and you were saying..." and we both burst out laughing.

Our favourite entertainment during the trip were the comedy and variety shows. Our 10-year old really enjoyed the Ocean's Club for kids - which was free (payable after 10pm). The food at the formal dining restaurants were fine and service was great. However, at the Lido area service area, it did feel after a while like a 'fattening' exercise. All in all, the cruise was fine and we had a lot of fun. We are already looking forward to the next time.
