I will try to make this as informative and beneficial to all who decide to read. First it was my wife and I and it was our first time away from the kids (22, 20, 18 & 16) since having them. We were definitely ready for this! We live in Northern Central CT and decided to get dropped off at the Metro North Station in New Haven. We took the early train on Sunday morning (6:46 AM) and we arrived at Grand Central Station at 8:50. We were amazed at the size and beauty if the station. It was a nice morning out and not too cold. We decided to walk from the station to the cruise terminal. It is just over a mile. For luggage we use large rolling duffle bags and my has a shoulder bag along with me carrying a back pack. I rolled both bags because my wife is only 5 feet tall. We enjoyed our walk and took our time to see some of what the downtown area had to offer. We walked past Times Square (awesome) and some other sights. We were impressed with the architecture of some of the buildings.

We arrived at the terminal around 10 AM. We checked our bags outside and proceeded into the terminal. We went through the screening process (similar to airports) and were then directed to get our boarding group number (we got 10). After that we were directed to the ticketing counter to begin our sign in process. At the counter they will ask for your ID and ticket. They will take your picture and ask for a credit card to set up your on board account. We had pre-paid for $1000 in on board credit so we did not leave a card on file. Once this part is completed you will be directed to a seated waiting area. I am thankful we arrived early because we did not encounter any lines. We began boarding around 11:15. They called out groups 1-5 then 6-8 then 9-10. They also give priority boarding to Haven, Platinum and casino guests. I dont feel like this caused much of a delay for us. We were on the ship before noon.

Once we were on the ship we proceeded to our stateroom 10746 (Starboard Balcony). This is located 2 floors above the waterfront over the shuffleboard area. We met our cabin Steward Noel. He was very polite and helpful. We asked if it was ok to leave our carry on bags in the closet as we didn't want to cause any issues. He was ok with us doing that. We then went to the Garden buffet where we expected a crowded mess. It was actually very smooth. We had a simple lunch and then we began to explore the ship and take it all in. There is a lot to see and take in so we took our time and had a blast.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BD

Very roomy for 2, Balcony is manageable if you stack the chairs and put into the corner. We were able to stand and watch the sunrise with no issues.

The locals are like vultures to a fresh kill.
