We choose this cruise to get on a bigger ship and have more ports in the Southern Caribbean. However, the ship wasn't any better than the Enchantment of the Seas or Grandeur of the Seas. The food was not as good in the main dining room and neither was the service. The entertainment was ok, but nothing to write home about. Cabins are nicer with the new shower stalls versus the shower curtains which is a huge improvement. Ports of call were nice but costly to pay for transportation for two each day to the tune of $80.00 times 6, that adds up after awhile. It was nice to get away but honestly will rethink going with Royal Caribbean again in the future. They are very money driven and not as personal as in the past. Everything is an "addition amenity" as if you don't pay enough for the cruise price and airfare.
Improvement to the showers with the new sliding doors versus the shower curtains. Refrigerator was nice but did't keep milk cold and it actually spoiled on us. Need better lightening and more receptacles .We only had two at the desk area.
Took an air conditioned van to the beach. Had rum punch and two beach chairs. Restrooms were okay and beach was nice. Nothing outstanding but no hassles by the locals which was nice. Free WiFi which was limited. Sorry can't remember the name of the excursion.
Did not do an excursion. Took a makeshift "Water Taxi" beware that they put their best groomed sales people at the pier and then you get into a makeshift boat with no life jackets that I was aware of. Wait until the boat is Full which took 25 minutes and then cruise across the island to their "buddies" who provided two lounge chairs and an umbrella with Wi Fi for $15.00. What a mistake!!! I was never so uncomfortable in my life. They take dibs on you when you get off the dock and they want to braid your hair, get you a drink, put aloe on your feet, they come up from behind you and help you adjust your lounge chair, talk about sleeping with one eye open!!! We stayed 2 hours and left. Unfortunately, this is the reason you should go with RC excursions but again, that all comes with a price. When you are doing 6 ports of call, it can become quite costly daily.
Took a taxi to Eagles Beach which was nice. Very windy so that sand was quite rough blowing on us most of the 3 hours we were there. Beware that Aruba pricing is quite more than the other islands. $40 for two chairs and umbrella. That gave us access to a bathroom "trailer with overflowing toilets and no lock on the door. All in all, Aruba is beautiful but again the best thing we did there was take the Port Authority bus for $5.75 for 2 back to the pier which had nice shopping.
