I chose this cruise based on the "no single supplement" offer. The Gem exceeded my expectations. Embarkation was a snap and disembarkation (early walk off with bags) was amazing. The Gem is the perfect size and fit my taste perfectly. One of the main dining rooms, the Grand Pacific was so elegant and reminded me of the grand ships of yesterday. I enjoyed many of the specialty restaurants and loved them. I enjoyed the Comedian (so funny), Second City, and two of the stage shows (amazing dancers and singers and excellent costumes). It was easy to find a seat but the stairs had no railing and that made it tricky. The ship's officers were visible and responsive. The Hotel Director dished out food at the barbecue buffet. Lots of food choices with many healthy food choices. I visited the Ponce de Leon home in Puerto which is the 2nd oldest in the Americas, 1507 I believe. I really got into the history and explored. I discovered a walk about 3 blocks uphill from the dock and behind the Capitol building, that took you along the beautiful Atlantic coast -- no buildings only the sea and it's crashing waves. St Thomas is always beautiful. St Maarten is my favorite stop for beaches, shopping and just walking. Tortola is not quite ready for oohs and ahs but getting there. I did not book any shore excursions. It's a very friendly ship. The service staff is the tops. I had an inside cabin on Deck 5 and found it spacious for an inside and close to Deck 4 where we disembarked. I purchased a thermal spa package and found the spa the best on the seas. I would definitely take the Gem again.
