Coolness

I chose this cruise because I'd sailed on Royal Caribbean one time previously and I liked the itinerary and length of cruise. For me all new ports of call. This trip was a relatively last minute choice with about a month before departure. Saw a very good price and booked it through a third-party seller (VacationsToGo).

Booked a guaranteed ocean view cabin 2340. The location was under one of the dining rooms toward the back of the ship starboard side and noise was never a factor. The window was of a good size and directly over the head of the bed so it was great to look out first thing in the morning. I'm enamored of the sea so I used it like a sea "television" and watched it whenever there were spare moments in the cabin. The cabin was of adequate size for my husband and I and we had plenty of storage for all our items. I never sat on the small loveseat because it looked tired and had staining on the upholstery as did the chair at the desk. I put a towel over the chair and used it. Most all cruise cabin bathrooms are small. This one was no exception but was larger than some I've experienced on smaller ships. The shower had good water pressure and you could adjust the height of the shower nozzle. There seemed to be no shortage of hot water. The only toiletries provided were the small round cakes of soap and a shampoo dispenser in the shower. No lotion or conditioner in this class of room. Perhaps you get more in the higher class of cabin. Our cabin steward was excellent and we had cute towel animals every night including a few I'd never seen before! No worries on cleanliness of our cabin--it was consistently fresh and neat.

The Adventure of the Seas is virtually the same as the Navigator of the Seas right down to decor and layout of the public areas. This was both a positive and a negative for us. We quickly remembered our way around the ship in spite of it having been a few years. The negative was that there was less to discover for us; a point I never would have thought about in the past.

Port Reviews

San Juan

Embarked on ship--we arrived only a couple of hours prior to sailing so the embarkation process was quick and uncrowned. Unfortunately there were no boarding photographers present as they already packed up and were gone. That first photo is always a good one because you're excited and happy at the adventure to come.

St. Thomas

$25 per person 3 hours open air bus from lowest point to highest point.

Curacao

Beautiful water

St. John (U.S.V.I.)

Ziplining and suspension bridges--fun

St. Lucia

We self-toured and enjoyed the people and setting

Barbados

The city and port are not picturesque. Other parts of the island may be but we found the city crowded and uninspired. Take a tour or skip it.

Aruba

The open air bus was very fun and rambunctious with maracas to shake and singing and music. The beach though beautiful provided little to no shade.
