Sail Date: Aug 2009
Cabin: Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

We were cruising on the 9th August sailing, from Barcelona, Spain on Voyager of the Seas. We stayed the previous night in the Gatwick Airport Hilton Hotel, that was satisfactory for one night.

We caught an early flight, and arrived at Barcelona to meet a Royal Caribbean representative who directed us to where some porters were taking the luggage onto the ship. We were waiting with around 5-6 other people when we were told to board a coach, that's right a coach with only 10 or so people! It took around 10-15 minutes to arrive to the port of Barcelona, where we finally the met the Voyager!

The Voyager is a large, beautiful ship. Embarkation was a complete breeze, with cookies and soda's being served in the hall. Lovely! It took less than 30 minutes to step on the ship.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Good area for a cabin, relatively quiet hallway, good balcony location, bad television.

Port Reviews

We went to Pompeii here, Naples is okay. Bit rundown if I must say so. But we went to visit Pompeii, it was exceptionally hot. In some cases unbearable, but all in all, it was enjoyable, and interesting to see 2000 year old ruins. One bad point, we lost the tour guide completely at one stage, and she didn't even notice we were gone! Other than that good!

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We arrived in Civitavecchia, Rome. Fairly nice port. We headed off to do a day's tour of Rome, and the Vatican. We had a lovely tour guide, and it was a lovely day. Got lots of photos and memories. Had a nice lunch near Vatican City. All in all great!

Florence (Livorno)

Arrived in Livorno/Florence, we went to visit the famous tower of Pisa! Fairly short tour this time, 3 and a half hours. Nevertheless it was good, just enough. We had a nice tour guide, but the local tour guide - not so good. Bought some nice souvenirs and got some good photos!

This was a stunning place. We headed off to do a afternoon tour of Nice & Villefrance, the tour guide was great. Everything was very organized. It was a really good tour, the weather was PERFECT!

The only port I really disliked. Marseille is a very boring place to be honest. And we had the most shocking tour, ever. The coach had bad air ventilation systems, in 38degrees weather, the tour guide was boring, coach driver was not great. We complained to Royal Caribbean, we may get a refund back, many other people also complained of the tour. Very poor, disappointing. Glad to get back on the ship.
