Port Reviews

Barcelona

Barcelona is beautiful with many things to see

Corsica (Ajaccio)

we went to ajaccio because stormy weather meant a diversion from Marseille.

Had a wander around the main town but weather was not too good - found it rather quiet, but nice and friendly

Florence (Livorno)

We did our own trip to Pisa as Florence has too much to see in the time available so we will return for a few days to see it properly.

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We went to see the Colosseum which was interesting, but was disgusted with how dirty Rome is - much graffitti and litter everywhere. Considering this is the world's No. 1 tourist sight, they should make more effort to keep it clean. Such a contrast to Barcelona and Palma which were so clean and well looked after.

We used the train and found it good.

Naples

We organised our own trip to Herculaneum where we had a guided tour around the site. The guide spoke good English and was very informative and entertaining. Incredibly interesting, but Naples is a bit rough with high unemployment and is a bit grubby and their trains are very dirty and smothered in graffitti - reminded me of the New York subway!

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

We organised our own sightseeing, taking the open top bus, which was good value and very enjoyable.
