My wife and I decided to take our two teenage kids on their first cruise with mixed results. We haven't cruised in over 15 years and it was disappointing how some things have changed with RCL. Gone are the days of the midnight buffet with ice sculptures, lobster at the captain's dinner, and bar waiters that came around whenever your drink was gone. Now you wait in line at the bar for your drinks and pay an additional fee for a lobster or nice steak at dinner.
With that being said, my wife and I had a really good time. My kids became a little bored, that's on them. There's enough to keep kids entertained, they just need to be willing to get involved. We had a junior suite, 1352 which was very spacious for the four of us. The ship itself is very nice with many things to do and many place to hang out. Our waitstaff and housekeeping both did a great job. I just wish we could tip them individually instead of having a $54 gratuity charge added to our account every day to supplement the crews wages.
We stopped at Nassau and Cozumel. Both were fun ports. We took the cruise's excursion the Blue Lagoon Island in the Bahamas and had a nice time there. In Cozumel we went with a 5 hour island tour through Safetours and were very happy with them. Much less expensive than other tours and it included a nice lunch.
Safetours did a great job. East side of the island is beautiful.
Nice place, too windy to snorkel unfortunately.
