Solstice cruise was very good overall. Celebrity does need to train its embarkation staff in processing as several problems were encountered during a process which is a zoo on good days. We had a suite and ate in Luminae but always requested the Main dining room menu for variety and that worked out well with no problems. The Wine sommelier was very good in Luminae. Specialty restaurants Murano and the Grill were great. Did not like menu in Silk Road or Blu. Butler (Ashwin) was very very good.

We did not attend many shows as they were standard cruise ship fare - despite what Ken the cruise director pretended them to be. I'll say one thing about Ken - he's good - but he's on the wrong cruise line with his schtick - he needs to go to Carnival where they'll believe him as the crowd on this ship was experienced cruisers who knew otherwise when he talked about activities and the ship. He was the topic of many conversations onboard. Ship activities were good and especially liked the wine/beer/Reidel tastings in Cellarmasters club. Didn't do the shops or photo but did appreciate a non-obtrusive photographer on this cruise.

We've been on Solstice twice in the last 9 months - and the service in the bars reflects the drink package era and prepaid gratuities in their promotions - - - we had trouble finding a waiter on several occasions - which was never experienced before. The particular bar which had a problem was the International Passport Bar on level 3 in which despite having menus on the tables - did not have adequate bar staff to accommodate. We saw many people go to the bar themselves and wait - and the bartenders did not always acknowledge their presence. We talked to the Luminae staff who addressed the item with the bar - but service did not improve. The bar staff would talk to persons sitting at the bar, rather than pouring drinks or waiting tables - which never occurred when they were looking for the tips. This needs to be addressed and I'm hopeful it will.

Port Reviews

Port Douglas, Australia

Wildlife bird sanctuary was very good. The gorge was noting special.

Brisbane

Excellent city tour with only a few hop offs - which allowed time to see many more areas within time allowed
