Crowded, noisy, poor service, mediocre food, even in specialty restaurants. Lobby impossible to navigate or be heard. Library next to rock music. Art gallery and casinos in middle of only pass-through decks. Short staffed. This and the Breakaway are disasters. Expect the Escape is the same. Opt for the Jewel class ships. Happier crew and passengers. Service charge is MANDATORY so staff is overworked has no incentive to satisfy. has become the worst of main-stream cruise lines. We have sailed 81 times; we know cruising. Crew is overworked and angry. Office staff is unavailable and reservations agents are downright NASTY. Corporate office does not accept calls. We are Platinum and plan to cancel remaining reservations. New Latitudes program takes away former perks such as two dinners with wine at specialty restaurants and ship tours. Buffet food simply awful, McBuffet! There are Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, and Carnival as better choices with better perks on Royal and Celebrity. NCL went from top notch to the absolute bottom of the barrel. Call and try to reach someone with authority; fat chance.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Not made up until dinner on several days. Halls narrow, crowded, and noisy

Shows were very good, but theater not large enough to accommodate passengers and reservations are required, some at additional cost, and often not available. Smaller entertainment venues vary from mediocre to very good, some are also short of available seating. Major activity on board is the usual daily Art Auctions, free cheap wine and it's said overpriced "Art". Oh well, beauty and value are in the eyes of the beholder. If you are interested in collecting, visit galleries or go online and compare pricing and quality before boarding. Also consider purchases in ports of call which make excellent souvenirs and provide memories of you're cruise. Many are low priced original signed oils and are quite good. This also provides much needed income to locals and an opportunity for conversation and recommendations for islands you are visiting. As for shore excursions we prefer taxis or a rental cars but all main steam cruise line excursions are contracted out and usually higher priced than offered shipside. The port of Miami is very large and parking fees are almost double Fort Lauderdale. Tampa or Canaveral. Can add $200+ to a ten night cruise. Off port parking in Miami is highly risky as auto break-ins are common. Port Everglades (Fort Lauderdale off port lots are as low as $5 daily and secure, well lighted and patrolled). Cabins are as expected per category, except that the "Haven" cabins are much larger, very expensive and treatment of Haven guests with private deck areas and dining create a two class ship. (First Class and no class to quote a famous Hollywood icon). Walk off departure which requires that you take all luggage begins early but prepare for long lines. Try to avoid Spring Breaks unless you like other peoples children running around the dinning rooms and tons of college students engaged in drinking contests.
