Cabin: Boardwalk View Stateroom with Balcony

Choose cruise to experience the monster ship. Oasis is remarkable. It is like a mall and small city inside with usual cruise amenities on deck. From the moment we were on board we were awed by the space and design. Our cabin looked over Central Park which allowed us to spend evenings on the balcony listening to special live classical music performances. Very nice. This balcony also provided protection from the weather on the sea or exposed sides. The Board Walk had shops and snacks and amusements like old time seaside parks. Great place to hang out. Children on board seemed to love the activities there. Games, Carousel, Wall Climbing, Zip Line plus lots of thing for younger ones. Water show had problems, it was cancelled due to winds then the rescheduled performance was stopped due to technical problems. We never got to see the whole show due to scheduling. It looked like it would have been neat, but we only saw about 10 minutes of it. Parade of the characters from the movies shown on the TV was fun. Food was great, we enjoyed the selection in the Windjammer buffet, we only ate in the Main Dining Room twice. We also ate in the sushi/hibachi special restaurant Izumi which was pricey but good. The only two real bummers were the doughnuts, they use a commercial supplier, and the look like doughnuts but chew like bagels. Whoever is making them has no clue. Also the coffee in the Windjammer was barely more than warm water, really undrinkable. Small complaints but any restaurant worth is salt should be able to do coffee and doughnuts.

Shore excursions were fun, we have been on several cruises so only scheduled for St. Thomas and St. Martin. St. Thomas actually was boat ride to St. Johns as we had never been there. We hired a local for an island tour. Learned a lot and know that next time we head to Trunk Beach on St. Johns. It has a great beach and snorkel path marked with underwater signs around a small reef. Great.

On St. Martin the cruise line listed a treetop tour with zip lines, this was not even close. It was an adventure course with a few zip lines. Traverses that consisted of single cable with one or two support cables, rope ladders, planks on cables with some up to 3ft apart. There were some supports that were broken causing supports to move, one of the slat bridges had a slat with and unsecured end that caused it to shift alarmingly. There were also sections of swinging 4x4 that had different levels up and down. We were required to make most of the connections with our safety cables and even the zip line trolleys. Oh and no hard hats. Finding our way around the trees supporting the cable at times was scary. Also ant seem to love the trees and cables and platforms as much as we did, even though we were assured they didn't bite and weren't dangerous, it was unnerving to try to maneuver with ants all over your had or crawling up your shoe. We have done zip lines before on cruises, none would have prepared us for this. We did it as once you are several challenges into it, there no out but to finish.
