Picked this cruise because it was a 10 cruise to the deep Caribbean. The Royal is a very nice ship. Lots to do and well laid out. I love the central court and all that goes on around it. Dining was very good in the Horizon Cafe and I believe that the Crown Grill is best steakhouse on the high seas. Great food and great service for only $29! The Pizza and hamburgers on Lido deck are also very good. Nice to have a free Pizza restaurant in the atrium. I thought the food had gone down a bit in the main dining room. Seems that Princess has reduced the options at dinner and included some rather strange choice. Service was OK, but not best we have had on Princess.

Our cabin steward was the best we have ever had. Always right there and kept the room spotless. Even lined up our shoes every night!

Entertainment: The biggest problem with the Royal class ships is that the main theater is too small for the number of passengers. This means you have to get the showroom at least 45 minutes ahead of he show if you want a seat. This means you have to rush through dinner and hoof it down to the showroom. Not good for a relaxing vacation. One CD, Ron Goodman fixed the problem by having three shows, but Kelly Rose, would not even listen to that suggestion. The entertainment was spotty. The Broadway shows were OK, but need to be replaced by newer shows. Some of them have been on the ship for three years. None of the hyped Stephen Schwarz shows are on the Royal. The group The Flyboys was really good, but only did one show. Did not think the scheduling was done very well. Would not be happy to sail with Ms Rose again. Lots of game shows, if that is your cup of tea.

Cabin BV

Picked this cabin because of its location on Deck 8 and toward the rear of the ship. Also, liked the value that an obstructed view cabin provides. This cabin has a great location, near the rear elevators, which are less crowded and one deck about the entertainment and two decks above our dining room.

Princess Cays

Same old private Island experience. I would not bother with the lunch buffet. Better food on the ship.
