We had little time in the past to visit the West Indies Islands. This cruise was the perfect opportunity, since we love the Viking Star. The cruise began and ended in San Juan. Very easy for us to travel to and from there. We visited 8 or 9 islands, swam, snorkeled, took an aerial tram through a rain forest, and had excellent excursions each day to discover each island.

The ship's general manager had been on the cruise we took to Scandinavia and the Baltic Sea last fall, and as we had come to expect from him, everything ran perfectly. We had an enjoyable Super Bowl party in the auditorium and the "party food" was outstanding. The cruise director was incredibly personable and talented in his own right. He performed brilliantly in a one-man show.

The entertainment and activities were fun -- with the ballroom dancers, the band and the singers/dancers. We never had a minute when we were at a loss for something to do. The continuous on-board "background music" with the resident guitarist, the pianist and the trio added to the experience of having a cocktail either in the Viking Atrium or in the Explorers Lounge.

Cabin Review

Cabin Explorer Suite

A perfect suite for anyone who thinks they might be claustrophobic. Lots of space and a large balcony. Comfortable living room with a large screen TV. You could spend the entire time watching the amazing movies on demand.
