Before sailing on Britannia we have only been on Thomson and P&O Oceana so can't compare with any other cruise lines.
We enjoyed the cruise but think Britannia is too big, not very well designed (too many dead ends, no promenade deck) and P&O are trying to cater for too many different types of people from Butlins on Sea on the Lido deck to ball room dancing in the Crystal Room and it doesn't work
The entertainment (when we could get a seat to watch it) was average, we are used to Thomsons entertainment which is superb with a West End style show five days a week! We watched the 'Once Upon A Star' show and thought we had gate crashed an afternoon matinee for 10 year olds! There was a duet on board who sang in some of the smaller venues but her voice was awful. The groups on Thomsons are so good that people would follow them from bar to bar to listen to them.
Our cabin was really nice and the Pullman beds didn't impact on the cabin at all as they fold away into the ceiling. The balcony was compact but perfectly big enough for two people to sit out and have a drink. if you both want to sun bathe flat out you will have to go on deck.
Always seems to rain when we are in Barbados!
Lovely port, nice to just wander around and have a drink by the harbour watching the bridge open and close to let the boats through.
Not as good as Curacao, just went to the beach for the day.
Did the ful island tour last year which was very good so just got the water taxi to the beach this time.
Spent the day round the port area which is really well laid out with shops and bars. The karaoke at The Rum Therapy bar was fun, only after half a bottle of rum though!
Overcast and raining which is a shame for the island which has the best beachs in the Caribbean.
Had a wonder round the endless jewellery shops then went on the beach and had a swim, very nice. Had the misfortune of going in Diamonds International, what a dreadful place! Jumped on by pushy sales staff the minute we got through the door, no prices so an item of jewellery could be anything from £500-£50000 for all I knew so we just walked out. We were going to buy something but didn't spend anything in the end. There were six ships in port that day so around 20,000 people trying to get off all at once, very busy.
