I am platinum with Carnival and understand issues happen on cruises and have always loved Carnival but WILL NEVER GO ON THEIR BIG SHIPS AGAIN- HORIZON WILL BE JUST AS AWFUL AS VISTA SINCE IT IS IDENTICAL.

I recently took to Twitter to share my poor experience with what I felt was a lack of staffing on board for food, drinks and some entertainment onboard the Carnival Vista due to the extremely long lines. The lines for taco’s took 45 minutes and no, I was not in the burrito line which would have been even longer. Guy’s hamburgers had over 1 hour wait and the buffet lines were 30 minutes and the air conditioning in those areas of the buffet were awful since Vista would not close the doors from the decks like they do on ALL their other ships.

Since I was traveling with a child who just turned 4 years old, we use buffets since he clearly doesn’t enjoy sitting and waiting for food. Clearly, sitting and waiting to be served would have been better than trying to keep him in line. It was obvious there are staffing issues when tables aren’t cleaned in these areas and workers are trying to keep up with adding food to the buffets and can't. They didn't have enough workers making taco’s, sandwiches, etc. We tried the Italian area for lunch and were told to fill out a form, sit and wait. The same poor process was for the Mongolian grill. On all other Carnival ships, the lines move well since it is a stand, grab and move along to a clean table. This ship doesn’t follow efficiency but rather lazy, inefficient processes that double or even triple ones times. I feel the main goal was not feeding me as a guest but leading me to the pay areas for food that had NO lines and no one there. I ate at 3 of those places and they were very good but why shouldn’t wouldn't Carnival staff their free areas the same? Clearly the model is to move guests to pay. There are TOO many guests and not enough workers.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Took the excursion through Carnival to Ocean World. Worth every penny and excellent for children.

Great day on the beach.
