We chose this cruise out of Port Canaveral because we wanted to go to Orlando for a few days also, and this 4-day itinerary worked out great. This was the 14th cruise for my wife and I, and the 10th for our kids. We had never sailed out of Port Canaveral before, and everything went fine.
I had ready on some other reviews that Carnival is only offering its guests room cleaning once a day, instead of 2. I was a little surprised by this, but our room steward introduced himself, and asked if we wanted turn down service in the morning or the evenings. I guess that this saves them money to only do it once a day. My kids were also a little disappointed when there was no chocolate left in our cabin by our nightly towel animal anymore. They have always ran to our cabin at night to see what animal our cabin steward had made, and to try and get to the chocolate first. I can see how not doing this could save Carnival money, but it's the little things like this that have always made cruising enjoyable. They also didn't have a party for their past guests on this cruise. I wondered if it was because it was only a 4-day cruise, but didn't find out if this has been cutout too.
The ship was very nice and clean, and the staff were friendly. After 10+ cruises, you know what to expect with the ships. There doesn't seem to be a big difference between them to me anymore. There are pools, hot tubs, restaurants, bars, casinos, shops and entertainment venues.
The cabin was a nice size. We had four people in our cabin, and we were not too crowded. They converted the couch into a bed, and had another bed that came out of ceiling for our kids. My wife and I shared the king size bed.
