Having take a Viking river cruise last summer and having a wonderful experience we were offered a great discount to book a Viking Ocean Cruise. Viking Ocean ships are state of the art and it shows , the attention to detail is amazing. Booking early we chose a Penthouse Jr. suite on deck 8 , it was spacious and the view outstanding . On board we were greeted with a glass of champagne and treated to a wonderful meal as our luggage was delivered to our cabin. Exploring the ship that afternoon was a real treat , finding a Sauna and snow room and a full service spa on a ship ! Our first evening was capped with an optional tour to experience traditional Flaminco dancing in a true old world Taverina . The northern Med can be a bit rough this time of year but you could hardly feel it as the ship sailed . We are at a stage in our lives where we dont want or need a 5000 passenger cruise ship with waterslides shopping malls and casinos , and Viking fills that need for us . With just 900 passengers we never felt crowded and were always able to find a quite spot on the ship ( hint , the Explorers Lounge ) The specialty dinning on the ship is amazing but the so is the standard dinning room. With at least 4 other places to grab a quick snack or late dinner you will never be disappointed . The included tours are great and if you desire more indepth or alternative tours they are available. The staff of the viking river ships and ocean ships are the cream of the cruise industry and it shows itself in the pride they take in their jobs. From cabin staff all the way to cruise director they want to make this the best cruise experience you will ever have. With new ships and new destinations coming on line very soon ( we have already booked an Alaskan Adventure on Viking for 2019) you will never regret a viking cruise !

Cabin Review

Cabin Penthouse Jr. Suite

Open the door and step inside the most marvelous cabin i have ever experienced , great king size bed , sitting area , heated floors in a dual vanity full sized shower bathroom and a veranda for outside sitting !

Port Reviews

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

The wind made docking in Monte Carlo impossible so relocating the ship made it necessary to tender all the guest to shore . Within an hour the crew had made arrangments for the buses to meet us and even tho we were 2 hours late getting started we were still given a full tour. Nice and Eze were beautiful and scenic in different ways and the views on the drive were breathtaking , Experiencing Monte Carlo and seeing the ships in the Harbor and ending our day with a visit to the Grand Casino and to be able to walk in the footsteps of Grace Kelly and James Bond .

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Corsica has to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth , the mountains and the valleys . A long and winding road along the coast to the village was a delight , climbing higher and higher and then back down to a marvelous village. Corsica is one place will will revisit !

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Rome is everything one can imagine, history , excitement and lots of scooters ! We went to St. Peters Basilica and it truly is a wonder of the world , the size and beauty are unimaginable and need to be experienced.
