We have traveled with Viking on the rivers many times and knew that the ocean experience would be as wonderful. We spent three days exploring Venice prior to the beginning of the cruise - it's truly a wonderful city to get lost in! The Hilton Hotel on Giudecca (Viking's choice for pre-trip stays) proved to be very convenient, and the Viking Star was docked directly across the canal from the hotel.

What I remember most is the time on the ship. The cabin (penthouse jr. suite) was perfection. Roomy, comfortable and well appointed. A large dual vanity bathroom was exceptional. The crew upholds Viking's commitment to customer service - they were always, always pleasant and accommodating. Dining in the Chef's Table and Manfredi's was an enjoyable experience and we made additional reservations once we realized we could! The Explorer's Lounge was a great find when in the mood for relaxing quietude.

I appreciate Viking's attention to education, providing background information for the various ports, which only adds to the experience of seeing these well-chosen cities. The stops in Turkey were the highlight of the trip for me!
